  1) Soft news (More casual information + entertainment) 2) Hard news (More politics + information) 3) They'd be in support of the Labour party. So, they're more likely to read the Daily Mirror. 4) They'd be in support of the Conservative party. So, they're more likely to read The Times. 5) Newspaper popularity has decreased over the years as more and more people started to use social media and the internet; the news has mostly transferred online now, meaning less people are reading physical newspapers in favour of digital ones 6) It's important for a free press so people can express their ideologies and views without censorship or fear of being punished

December Mock Exam: LR

  1) WWW: Strong knowledge of Section A (TV); see comments to ensure top marks. EBI: Work on timings and focus more on the 20 mark questions. 2) Non-diegetic sound is sound only the audience can hear (e.g. Music) 3) - Low angle of Will; connotates he's helpless and inferior - Slow dolly track when sitting indicates the relationship is getting closer - Faster dolly shot when Lyra walks in the house 4) - Will is seen as domesticated + inferior to Lyra - Lyra is not using cutlery, not proper table  etiquette 5) - HDM: Ms Coulter/older adults are corrupt/dishonest vs. teens, who are more heroic - Lyra represents the changing nature in society; women are seen as more independent - DW: The Doctor is an older figure who commands respect - The teachers are more sincere/ responsible  compared to the teens 6) UGC is content made by people and not corporations (e.g. Videos on YouTube) 7) - MR has 16m followers on Instagram; has a lot of social influence - MR's engagement rate is 6% which

OSP: Influencers

  1) YouTube - 2005, Twitter - 2006, Instagram - 2010 2) Someone who has a large following and does stuff to inspire/influence others 3) Kim Kardashian - 221M Instagram Followers 4)  It's a very big industry, as the report mentions by the end of 2019 the influencer business makes about $8B each year, and the "creator economy" employ more than 50M people. 5) It may sound fun on the surface, but it's quite a hard life. They have to take the perfect pictures, go to photoshoots, arrange photographers, change outfits and more. Demanding clients usually make them retake photos and/or video until they're just right. 6) Because influencers are being paid by advertisers to show their products off, which has proved to be quite a successful business decision. 7) The idea that someone has to look "perfect" by using beauty products and such, creating a false idea of beauty that heavily relies on unnatural products 8) In my opinion, I think influencers are fine. Statement of Intent

My fantasy TV drama will be called ‘Like a Paladin’. It will be aired on a few different TV channels like Sky Max and BBC One, and selected streaming services like Netflix and Disney+. The sequence I have planned out will be played near the end of the first episode. The 2-minute sequence will consist of a chase scene by a member from an evil, authoritative government, looking to steal a sacred treasure from the main character. The protagonist has a fraction of the full artefact; they’re looking for more fragments to power up further and fix the dystopian world they live in.  My protagonist is a teen who’s on a mission to turn their lives around for themselves and the people around them after discovering a sacred artefact. The use of teenagers will make my target audience, teenagers, feel a sense of identity (Blumler and Katz) as they can relate easier to the main character. The protagonist’s goal attracts “The Succeeder” audience (Young and Rubicam) as their achievements may inspire au

Paper 1 Assessment Learner Response (October)

  1) WWW: Dyari - a strong response for Q7 on Black Widow. You know the CSPs well in this paper. EBI: Not enough media theory/terminology to develop/extend responses. 2a) Typography - Upper case and bold, sans serif font used; connotations of importance and power 2b) Non-verbal codes - lighting signifies brand identity with logo being displayed as lights 2c) Photographic codes - Long shot signifies/shows power of the rugby player and his determination 3) Propp's character theory - Audrey Hepburn is the "heroine", the chauffeur is the "hero", the bus driver is the "donor" and the fruit cart is the "villain". Torodov's equilibrium theory - Equilibrium is first established in the calm, and peaceful town. Disequilibrium is then shown by the fruit cart stalling Audrey Hepburn's bus. A new equilibrium is established once the chauffeur takes Audrey Hepburn on her journey. 4a) Serif font conveys formality and high class 4b) Use of green colou

Preliminary exercise feedback and learner response

  1)  WWW: You have displayed some excellent editing and technical skills throughout this preliminary exercise. In particular, the technical editing skills you demonstrated when changing the colour grading and producing match-on-action for the chase which was a requirement for the preliminary exercise brief.  EBI: The biggest improvement needs to be ensuring you film content outside of school to establish the fantasy genre and not limit yourself to filming at school; this will improve the overall quality of your coursework project. The other thing to work on is audio levels. The dialogue was difficult to hear at the end because of the soundtrack being too loud. Most of the feedback in class was complaining about the sound at the end. 2)  WWW: - I have edited the preliminary task very well. - I demonstrated key skills that are essential for the real coursework. - I have met the brief guidelines. EBI: - I need to film scenes outside of school. - I need to work on balancing audio. - I sho
