Film Industry: Black Widow

  1) Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros. Sound and lots of VFX companies. 2) A conglomerate is a big company that owns lots of smaller companies. Black Widow features lots of production teams that are subsidiaries of Disney/Marvel. 3) The special effects, the celebrity actors, and the soundtrack. 4 a) Trailers Trailers have been the standard way to advertise a movie for a long time. It's pretty much a necessity if you want anyone to see or hear about your movie. 4b) Star Interviews/Power Interviews with the cast attracts fans of said actors to watch/read the interview and then potentially get interested in watching the movie being advertised. Facebook bought Instagram back then because they knew social media was a very popular and growing market that they could cash in on. 2) What are the benefits for media companies of vertical integration? The company owns lots of different types of media and is most likely a conglomerate. They could probably own TV stations, streaming services, film/music studios, and more.This allows them to have more creative freedom and thus, make a lot more money. 3) What are the benefits for media companies of horizontal integration? Horizontal integration is when a company purchases another company. For example, Facebook bought Oculus in 2014 as they knew VR technology would be the future and they could cash in on a potential future market.
