Represent - NHS Blood & Transplant Ad Campaign

1) Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Communities

2) There is a need for blood in the BAME community as there are specific ethnic diseases that can't be cured by anyone else (like sickle cell)

3) Donate blood and help others

4) It's called "Represent" as it represents the 3% of people who are Black and Asian who donate blood, and the fact that we should increase that number.

5)

6) The 3 chairs has connotations of emptiness and ignorance. This is because the chairs symbolise the people who should donate but don't, and even more so it represents the 3% of people who do donate, which is a very small number

7) It's set in an urban city, as you can see the city in the background from the roof where this video was filmed

8) This subverts stereotypes as we see a woman rapping instead of a man; this subverts stereotypes because typically when we think of rapping, we usually think of men in their early 20's, but here instead we see a woman.

9) This reinforces stereotypes of the BAME community as we see multiple instances where we see connotations that these people represented are strong and fearless. However people could take this the wrong way, as many of the people represented here are more so geared towards the stereotypes, which could make certain people offended.

10) Lady Leshurr is standing on a roof with a clear view of the city. The shot has connotations of loneliness/isolation as she is by herself, near the city below.

Camera shot 1: Medium Shot This camera shot is used frequently, and it's a shot of a character from head to torso. The characters are watching from some sort of video chat, so this shot being used could indicate crucial information is being put out. Camera shot 2: Two shot This camera shot is also used frequently, and it's shot consists of two characters in one scene. In the clip we see quite a bit of two shots, so this could indicate teamwork between characters. Camera shot 3: Close-up This shot is also used quite frequently; it's of a character visible from head to shoulder. The shot could be used to emphasise the stakes of this scene, considering how close the camera is next to the characters. It could also mean closeness and/or close proximity between the characters, as they are in direct communication with each other. Camera angle: Low angle The camera is almost always at a low angle throughout the clip and it's scenes. It could be used to indicate the power that...

Advertising: Key Connotations

  1)  - The picture of the product and it's contents (Skittles) remind us of what this advert is promoting. - The packing for the sweets is in the middle, with it's slogan under it and loads of Skittles behind it. The Skittles in the background are arranged in a rainbow, referencing it's slogan, "Taste the rainbow". - The background is a cloudy sky, further emphasising the rainbow theme of the sweets. - It's slogan, "Taste the rainbow", refers to the many fruity flavours Skittles has, and how colourful they are. - It's colour scheme is bright red with the frequent use of rainbows; this makes Skittles much more recognisable, and sets up a brand identity. 2) The USP (unique selling point) is the fact that Skittles come in many colours and flavours, allowing you to have a different taste experience from other sweets/candy brands. Many people like Skittles for the many flavours and styles they have available (e.g. Sour Skittles, Tropical Skittles, et...

Music video: Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor

Audience 1) The target demographic for Arctic Monkeys' music are late teens - early adults who are most likely in the middle class; most of them would also happen to be from western countries. The psychographic group for their music is most likely the Struggler, or any other group that fits an average everyday person. 2) Diversion/distraction from the things around them, as the song is fast-paced and upbeat, and would likely catch their attention and keep them focused on the song. 3)  4) Fans shared their music on P2P websites, allowing a lot more people to hear their music globally. Because a lot more people had listened to their music, this meant that they were a lot more popular than they'd initially thought. 5) They would most likely respond with excitement and/or happiness. Arctic Monkeys wants their fans to enjoy the music video; they most likely aren't in it for the fame/popularity, as before they start the song, the lead singer says "don't believe the hyp...
