1) Which part of the course are you looking forward to most?

Creating our own media projects in the future.

2) What knowledge and skills do you hope to learn in Media?


The knowledge and skills on how to create my own videos and/or films.

 

3) What grade are you realistically hoping to achieve in Media (5-9)?

 

Realistically, I'd say somewhere in between, so probably a 7.

 

4) What was the last TV programme or film you watched?

 

Stranger Things

 

5) Why do you think that TV programme or film appealed to an audience? Why would an audience like it?

 

It appealed to it's audience for it's story and characters. People might like the action and drama scenes within the show.

10) What aspects of this scene do you think an audience might enjoy? List at least three things and explain why the audience would enjoy each aspect. 


The music, due to it's dramatic nature, the scenery, as it's gloomy and also dramatic, and lastly the character speaking as they sound powerful.


Extension question: What can you spot in Doctor Who that you will find in most television dramas? (E.g. characters, dramatic music etc.) These are called key conventions - list as many as you can think of. 


The characters, the drama, the soundtrack, the scenery, monologues/speech, and the camera movement.


Extension question 2: What would a Doctor Who fan ('Whovian') particularly enjoy about this scene?


I think they'd enjoy the speech and how dramatic this scene is.

Introduction to TV drama

  1) It has a wide array of characters, a unique setting, and a dramatic narrative. 2) The genre of the show could be a dystopian future. I think this because in the trailer, it's heavily implied that time travel is a big part of the show, and that there are more universes than we think. They also show a lot of sinister and evil looking characters, who are after the protagonist(s). 3) For the character side of things, a lot of characters are shown to us here, some good, some bad. From this we can assume the bad characters are our antagonists, and the good guys are either protagonists or supporting characters. The narrative of the show is quite dark and, again, could be a dystopian society. 4) Multiple settings are shown to us in the trailer, mostly quite modern or quite old ones. They are all quite diverse and are all equally unique in their own ways.
